We lost another cat this month. August 16 we had to have our outside cat Buster put down. He showed up at our house already compromised. He was emaciated, wormy and buggy and not fixed. We took care of all that, but also found out he had FeLV. We got him healthy as you can see in this photo. Chubby and happy. He was also a very gentle cat. He never tried to bite or hiss. He was just a gentleman.

Something happened over the winter. He was bitten by something. Had an abscess. It went away on its own, but he started losing weight. Then in the beginning of July, he started breathing a bit heavy. It got worse right before we were to go on vacation. I called my vet out. She gave him a steroid as he did not seem to have an infection. He lasted 3 more weeks. I was starting to give him Interferon and he seemed to be doing okay, but one Saturday eve, he was open mouthed breathing. I didn’t think he would make it through the night. The next morning I called him and he eventually showed up but still breathing really bad. I called our vet. I sat with him out front under the bush he liked to sit under and pet him. I rubbed his belly which still was his favorite thing. He purred and purred. I told him I loved him and that is why I was doing what I was doing. Our vet came and put him down in my arms.

He was only in our lives for 1 1/2 years. Just a youngster, but still made an impact. Rest in Peace, my gentle loving Buster man.
